Tami
Hi! I'm Tami, and I seem to be the resident shop model because somehow I just happen to be
wearing the right colors to model everyone else's knitting in addition to my own!
(Webmaster's note: Tami is also the resident shop model because she has never once taken
a bad picture and always has that gorgeous smile at the ready).
The pictures above also includes ones of me with the gianormous cone of pure wool I brought back from a trip
to Ireland. I thought I'd never finish winding it into balls... And yes, I am wearing the point of
a shawl on my head, with the needle still in it. I am in the habit of knitting what Janice tells me
to knit, so I did not think when the webmaster told me to model the shawl on my head! In that same
picture, I am wearing the top-down raglan sweater I knit out of Ecological Wool. Also, the webmaster finally
realized that there were no pictures of me knitting, so he added that last one of me knitting.

Sherry
Hi! I'm Sherry (and that's Pat in the background). I'm a new grandma, so
you'll be seeing lots of incredibly cute knitted baby things in the near future.
If you hear anyone talking about "Sherry Classic",
that would be me.
|
Sheri
Hi! I'm Sheri, and this picture shows me reading through my next pattern.
On the table is the poncho I just finished for my daughter. If you hear
someone mention "New Sherry", they are referring to me.

CZ (Corinne)
Hi! I'm CZ, and I'm having a wonderful time at the reception for Louisa Harding. A friend taught me to knit years ago,
but I did not have the same reinforcement then that I have now, and I have
just gone crazy with it (there's now knitting in every room of my house, next to every chair). Now if
only the tenure process were as easy as picking up dropped stitches...
|
Adrienne
Hi! I'm Adrienne, and these pictures show me showing off my new Poncho, knit from Ecological Wool.
Can you tell how pleased I am with this project! Janice helped me figure out this project, but
the only thing handy to write on was a napkin. So if you'd like to knit a poncho like this one,
come to the shop on a Saturday and bring a napkin!
|
Sharon M
Hi! I'm Sharon, and I'm wearing the Sakiori vest I knit for the first ever Needleworks Knit Along.
When you see me in the shop, be sure to ask me about knitting camp if you haven't heard about it
already!
|
Karen
Hi! I'm Karen, and I can be seen casting on in one picture above and showing off the afghan I knit
for my brother and his new wife for their wedding present. A word to the wise: If you knit anything
with light and dark colors, check to make sure the dark colors are dye-fast.
|
Tina B
Hi! I'm Tina B, and I'm working on a scarf that I'm also wearing. In the other picture, I'm working
on the front of a cabled vest.
|
Melissa
Hi! I'm Melissa, and these pictures show off the felt bag (prior to felting) that I knit for my sister.
The smile on my face should tell you how pleased I am with how it turned out (it's even prettier felted),
and you can also see the great detail on the bottom of the bag.
|
Jen
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a flying knitter? Then it must be me! The picture shows me
working on the sleeve of a green, cabled sweater.
|
Grant
Hi! I'm Grant, and I'm here to serve as a role model for other
"yarn widows" to prove that you can see your
fiber-addicted partner -- you just have to go to the yarn shop!
Also, it helps if you're willing to go pick-up some carry out lunch or
wind hanks into balls (as I'm doing in these pictures). Support your
local fiber addict!!

Janice
Hi! I'm Janice, and I've been knitting for years and years. In a past
life (career-wise), I ran a yarn shop in Decatur (ask me how I met my
husband!). If you come to the shop, chances are you'll see some of my
knitting displayed as models or one of my "Yarn Bouquets",
little baskets of enticing color and texture combinations to tempt your
knitting pallette. Actually, many of the other staff and regulars
contribute to the yarn bouquets. In one picture, you can see that I'm
working on a "carry-along" scarf, pairing a basic black with the
fabulous stranding yarn with little popcorns of color. The other picture
shows me wearing a Ruana (a South American shawl), which is otherwise known
to my family and friends as Janice's Red and Purple thing. |
Tina
Hi! I'm Tina, and I'm having a lovely time at knit-night. I'm working
on my Kureyon sweater from the Tricoter men's book. This fabulous wool
is a bit of a departure from my ongoing love affair with cotton, but
what better wool to tempt me away from cotton!
|
Pat
Hi! I'm Pat, and I could not be more thrilled to be a Grandma. You
should just about be able to hear me squealing with delight over this
adorable little sweater I just finished (using Le Fiber Nobili Merino
Soft). This sweater is as soft and smooth as butter. At the left, I'm
working on a sock that will be beyond fabulous.
|
Barb
Hi! I'm Barb, and I was a relatively new knitter (for about 2 months) when
this picture was taken. Clearly I was and am a fearless knitter (completing
2 sweaters in the first 2 months speak for themselves). You can see me working
on a cable-knit sweater, knit from the top down, in Manos del Uruguy. I've
had a great time jumping in on this sweater, and I'm greatful for the help
from Kate, Nancy, and Matthew in deciphering what has been a most perplexing
pattern. I'm just thrilled with my sweater; and if nothing else, I've learned
not to fear the frogging. Picking up stitches is easy, even for a beginner
like me! The second picture shows the finished sweater!

Ray
Hi! I'm Ray, and I've been knitting for quite some time. I had so
many people ask me about my Fair Isle color work with NO FLOATS
on the back that the folks at Needleworks finally talked me into giving
a class. In addition to my colorwork knitting and teaching, I have been
a bit obsessed lately with knitting fashion scarves in Eros yarn by Plymouth.
I've lost count of how many of these scarves I've made. Also, don't forget
to ask me about my yarn bucket or my favorite color for knitting.
Ray is just tickled with the cards & presents for his birthday, especially the Pirate Hat from Diane.

Diane & Mickie-Pickle
Hi! I'm Diane, and when I make the trip over to Champaign-Urbana
for the occasional day of knitting, I usually bring my dog, Kaci, with
me. Dogs and knitting do go together! The other picture shows off the
mohair shawl I knit -- aren't the colors just yummy! |
Chris
Hi! I'm Chris, and I loved knitting so much that I worked to create The
Knitting Illini, a registered student organization at the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Since then, I have graduated with
my degree in engineering and moved back to the Chicago area, but
I always try to stop by my favorite yarn shop when I'm in town.
|
Deana
Hi! I'm Deana. I'm smiling in the picture on the left because Matthew and
Janice finally convinced me that stash enhancement is a good thing, and now
I have visions of yarn dancing through my head! In the picture on the
right, I'm working intently on a lovely blue sweater. |
Nick
Hi! I'm Nick, one of the youngest knitters in the shop. Susan tells me
that I have very even stitches, with more than a little envy in her
voice. |
Heidi & Mary Ellen
Heidi reconnected with her love of knitting when she came in to Needleworks to buy yarn and a pattern to recreate
a sweater she had knit during the Watergate hearings (and then subsequently lost at some point over the years).
She fell in love with knitting all over again, and has been a massively prolific knitter and a wonderful addition to the
shop gang. Her friend, Mary Ellen, is pictured with her; Mary Ellen is also an avid knitter (and quilter and needlepointer),
and we had a grand time with her latest visit to Heidi -- now we wish St. Louis were even closer.
Heidi & Westie
Anyone who knows Heidi knows how fond she is of her wonderful West Highland Terrier, Westie the Bestie. Well, Heidi finally brought Westie
in during a quiet moment at the shop. Rumor also has it that Heidi is as prolific a knitter because Westie knits for her during the day
while Heidi is at work.
