Buttonholes and Buttonbands      1 Session      3 Hours      $24

A     Friday     July 11     1:30 PM  –   4:30 PM     Kate Winkler

Circular Shawls      5 Sessions      Each 2 Hours      $80

Learn how to knit circular shawls from the center outward, with several variations of shaping and several variations of edgings. Five mini-shawls will be knit with DK weight yarn on size 5 needles to develop the techniques. Then, each student will chose which of the five shawls to work in lace weight yarn to full size. The instructor will reserve half an hour after class for review and extra help for any students who need it (at no extra charge). You will need 150g DK weight yarn and roughly 2400 yards of lace weight yarn (e.g., two skeins of Merino Lace from Skacel); you will also need US Size 5 needles (set of 5 DPN and a 24" circular) and US Size 2 needles (set of 5 DPN, 24" circular, and 40" or 47" circular) -- or sizes appropriate to the two yarns selected. Finally, you will need a row counter, a darning needle, several stitch holders or spare needles, and 8 stitch markers (7 that match, one that doesn't).
A     Wednesdays     May 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25     7:00 PM  –   9:00 PM     Matthew Hesson-McInnis

Felted Clogs      2 Sessions      Each 2 ½ Hours      $40

Learn to knit the Fiber Trends Felted Clogs, including some time-saving construction methods to make life easier. You will need your own copy of the pattern, which details yardage requirements for various adult sizes. You will need yarn that felts well, such as wool (but not superwash wool), alpaca, mohair, llama, or angora. Also, be wary of very light colors as the bleaching process used to lighten some colors can sometimes inhibit felting. Finally, you will need two circular needles (one 24" long, the other does not matter) in the same size (see pattern for gauge — if in doubt, use larger needles), a darning needle, a stitch marker, and a row counter.
